I just imported a AC17 file to AC20 and the surface rendering is bizarre...me thinks it might be my Attribute File???
See attached PDF of the image.

I believe it is a missing texture in the surface material.

This may shed some more light...

Have you tried the YouTube channel link in the Archicad HELP menu?
You will get a few tips about the built-in Cinerender engine there.

You have many tutorials on Youtube, including Graphisoft own tutorial. Just to mention:
https://www.youtube.com/user/MuazOnline
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWp1Y1uCPSXChNPmPYeIXdDBu1NO-PuC_
http://blog.graphisoft.lat/escena-sala-moderna-cinerender/
With this last one (in spanish) you can download the project and study it. I know there are others too.

GPU rendering OS X ArchiCad 19 Please help

I am trying to wrap my head around GPU rendering on OSx

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
AMD Radeon R9 M390 2048 MB

Archicad 19

iStat menu says the GPU memory is being used but not the processor

Can I get GPU rendering to work with this setup? Should I just return this iMac and get one with a better CPU? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

ArchiCAD does not use the GPU for rendering, only for 2d display and OpenGL in the 3D window.
If you want to use GPU rendering you will need to purchase Octane Render plugin but it is not usable on your iMac or really any new Mac as it requires Nvidia cards for Cuda which is not available on the Radeon cards used in current Macs

Thank you for the clarification.

Do you think I made a good descision on the specs of the iMac?

I plan to upgrade the ram and the hard drive to an ssd(I know it's a major surgery)

I have 2 weeks to return or exchange.

I only use cad 3-4 small jobs per year. This isn't my full time job.

The iMac is OK as for intermittent use of ArchiCAD and 3D rendering as long as you have enough RAM.
If you were using ArchiCAD every day I would suggest more of a workstation class machine but Apple do not currently make a workstation worth buying, the current MacPro is very out of date and very expensive (A$10.5k for MacPro equivalent of A$4k HP z440 workstation).

kylealkim:

I have a 27" iMac, but with the i7 rather than i5 chip and 24 gb RAM. It has been great for small to medium size projects.

Views not linked to cameras in ArchiCAD 20

In previous versions, I could create a view from a camera and, when I moved the camera, the view would also change positions. This no longer seems to be the case in 20. Now, the created views no longer seemed to be linked to the camera views. Is there a new setting or something I am missing?

I checked this and it was working in AC19.
And indeed, it doesn't work in AC20.
I will report this to GRAPHISOFT.

In the meantime, you can activate the saved View, then go back to the Floor Plan, move the Camera, then right-click the Camera and Show All in 3D.
The 3D View is changed in its TAB. Right-click the TAB and click the Save View command. This way the View will be updated with the new Camera location.

laimichka:

Here is a thread that discusses a similar issue, it may help:
ArchiCAD 18 - Interior Animation

The rendering engine is CineRender, not the older LightWorks.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
